SGW thanks for you input. I was not aware that you couldn t use VFDs on single phase motors. While I already have a rotary phase converter for my lathe which I sized to also accomodate a mill in the future I was planning to use a VFD to vary the speed of a three phase step pulley mill. My mini mill before I sold it I retrofitted with a 2hp single phase motor. I ran it on a 15 amp 115v circuit for a few months and on a 20 amp 115v circuit for a few years when I moved the shop.
